Welcome to U.S. Hwa Rang Kwan!

US Hwa Rang Kwan is a kumdo dedicated martial art institute in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. Our school has five locations, three in Virginia and two in Maryland, with approximately 500 members. Our school is affiliated with the Korea Kumdo Association and also with the subdivsions USEKF (United States Eastern Kumdo Federation) and the GWMKF (Greater Washington Metropolitan Kumdo Federation). Our school has a tradition and history which we are very proud of.

US HRK was founded by Master Soon C. Chang in the mid 90s, and strived in the Eastern United States region by achieving outstanding perfomances at all major tournaments. Our school however sets higher priorites in development of a healhty mental state in our members, than the actual physical aspect of Kumdo. We emphasize respect, and humbleness at our school, and through this we have established a family atmosphere, and US HRK has become more than a martial art school. We have established a community of teamwork and leadership and we hope to carry this tradition over the next generations.
